Bullying A Major Unsolved Disaster - 1608 Words

Andrea Davidsen March 20, 2017 Mr. Allen - C period Bullying â€Å"Door barricade devices in schools are intended to keep dangerous individuals out of classrooms; but what if that person is already in the room?† (Jerry Heppes, Sr.). A major unsolved disaster is bullying. Children verbally and physically attack other children in many different locations, most commonly at school. Also, the internet is another typical place where children and even adults type, send, text, and post harmful words to other humans. Bullying is a world-wide problem that causes stress, depression, self harm, and at worst, suicide. Unfortunately, there is not a solution for bullying yet, but raising awareness and reporting it helps. Emily Pualwan, the executive director of HazingPreve ntion.org, one of the nation s major anti-hazing action groups, said â€Å"Cyberbullying, the use of any kind of internet medium to harass people (qtd. in Stuart, p. 12). Online, kids speak their minds without understanding that what they are texting and posting can hurt others. Most children because that because their harsh words are on a screen, that the victim is not impacted. Although the bully’s words are not verbally said, the emotions their words bring to the victim can be deadly. Some kids text each other telling them to harm themselves and most of the time, the consequences are severe. If bullying is a horrible thing to do then why do humans still decide to do it? Many factors play a part on why people bully others. Depending on a student’s life at home, grades, family, or other reasons, most kids that harass other kids have their own problems. They try to make themselves feel better about their situation, by bringing others down. When children are bullied, they are helpless. Not all, but some bullies, might feel that way at home or in their life, determined by their position.
